The entire thing is sad, very very sad.
I feel for the driver but she lost control of her vehicle regardless of why.
and the parents of young children having them fish with their backs to State Hwy with posted speed limit of 55 is crazy. There are many documented cases of drivers getting target fixation and actually steering into people and vehicles on the side of the road.
Please keep all persons on the side of high speed roads as far from the white line as possible. This includes when you are broke down. Get people out of the vehicle and away 3-4 lane widths away from the edge of the road. The 10-20 feet represented in the photo is just too close.
