re: LSUS Online MBA Reviews

Very glad to have found this thread! Registration opens tomorrow and after working this puzzle for a couple of weeks, I'm not 100% sure yet what I am going do with my classes. I've talked myself into and out of several different options, several times. It's a gift, really.

I'm on the MBA-Marketing Specialization track, and am really just getting started. I took MADM760 with Wyatt for Spring AP1 and finished with a high A. I ended up dropping my Spring AP2 course (MADM701 with K. Williams) so I'm not taking anything this session.

Graduated undergrad 9 years ago with a BA in Theatre/Communications. I've tried out various career paths, and have landed on pursuing digital marketing. I'm planning to bolster the more general Marketing MBA with digital marketing certifications.

I don't have much of a math background and definitely have to work harder at the subject, so I'm trying to put math-heavy classes at the end of my rotation. I'm assuming I will need to take the 4 foundation courses (ECON500, ISDS500, ACCT500, FIN500) that are offered before I try to take ECON705, ACCT701, FIN701, ISDS705, and ISDS710.

I asked my student coordinator about the foundation courses and he just said that they recommend taking them if you don't have experience or haven't recently taken undergrad classes in the subjects. How necessary are they? I'd rather not do the foundation courses if they can be avoided, just due to cost, time, and courseload, but obviously, I'll do what I need to. The "2 Cs and you're out" policy is intimidating.

I'm waffling back and forth between MADM720 (Leadership Communication) and MADM751 (Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Creativity) for my elective. I'm sifting through this thread and have seen a lot of praise for MADM751 with Meeks so far, though those posts are several years old. A lot of reviews for him on RateMyProfessor were mixed (I know that will happen with anyone) and the course seems group project heavy. I hate group work, but it looks like the majority of the MBA classes will require it. Is that a fair assumption?

Summer AP2 (2020) - MADM751, Meeks
Fall AP1 (2020) - MKT701, Chen (online reviews of Chen seemed favorable)
Fall AP2 (2020)* - ACCT500, Bogie & FIN500, Vines
Spring AP1 (2021) - MKT710 & ISDS500
Spring AP2 (2021) - ISDS705
Summer AP1 (2021) - ISDS710 & ECON500
Summer AP2 (2021) - FIN701
Fall AP1 (2021) - ECON705
Fall AP2 (2021) - ACCT701

The only changes for Option B would be my Summer 2020 courses...

Summer AP2 (2020) - MADM701, Kungu

*I originally was not planning on any taking any class for Fall AP2 (2020) as we'll be out of town for a week in November and I didn't want to risk not being able to do coursework or an exam that week.


· Thoughts on MADM751 vs. MADM720?
· Is Kungu a good choice for MADM701? It seems like his style is similar to Wyatt's - not very involved, but simple enough assignments. I was able to supplement the course reading for Wyatt's MADM760 with lectures over the same reading on YouTube and did pretty well on his tests. The other options for MADM701 for Summer AP1 are Phillips and McLaughlin. Phillips had terrible reviews on RateMyProfessor, and McLaughlin's were also mixed.
· How is Chen for MKT701?
