Ok. I’m kinda freaking out. Just scheduled my 3rd test on proctor U. Turns out I will be in Cabo.
Is there anyway to find out if proctor u will work on the Hotel WiFi?
Does anyone know if proctor U will work over VPN?
BigHoss,
I just went through this with a trip to Disney World. The wifi at hotels are on proxy servers and sometimes they will have spikes in bandwidth which can/will cause an interruption to the connection to Moodle. Once that bandwidth falls below the necessary threshold, it kicks you out of the test and may or may not let you back in. In most cases, it will not.
I did consult with LSUS Tech Support on this and they provided all of the information above. Plus, I have also experienced it personally. They will tell you that it should work with the key word of "should" being there. The issues is not the privacy or security aspect - it's the amount of bandwidth. More specifically, upload speed. Has to be around 25 mbs. My professor was unbending and said that it was on me if it went out.
For my trip, I happened to have friends that lived in Orlando and I was able to go over to their house one night and take the test. I took my laptop and all of my own equipment (Camera, mouse & cables) to make sure I was covered.
Hopefully this helps.
