Hey Daily,

Ha. "powerpoints are of low quality" may be the understatement of the year.

How are your impressions now that we're a couple weeks into it. I've been averaging about 1300-1500 words on my assignments. Don't know if I'm overkilling or if that's what it takes to get full credit. Seems odd to just have a list of questions. I feel like I could just copy/paste the paragraph out of the text for each question. Like you said, some of the questions don't lend themselves to discussion as much as a simple answer.

This is my first class at LSUS. How does HCAD 750 stack up to the other classes as far as amount of work / difficulty. The instructor seems pretty disengaged other than reminding people that they won't get credit for any late work.

If it continues along this trend, it will end up being a fairly easy class that feels sloppily put together, taught by a largely indifferent professor. That's disappointing because I was actually really looking forward to this course going into it. It is very similar to MADM 701 (a core class) with Tammi Knotts. In fact, I'm pretty sure he was told to basically copy that class because he helped with it last session (or at least observed it).

Writing assignments: I've written between 1000 - 1200 words for the first 2 assignments, though, as mentioned, hardly any of them are conducive to a discussion or elaboration. Most amount to straight up definitions, some of which only line up with the terminology and categories of this specific book he's getting the questions from. The most difficult part is finding sources that even remotely make sense and then trying to tie that into the question. I received an 'A' on the first assignment, but not a 100%. I expect a similar grade on the second assignment, especially since he didn't give us our first grade until a full week later.

Forum post: We're obviously having our first one this week, so I don't know how hard he'll grade them but I feel like the questions are really focused on someone with a job currently in healthcare. As I'm in an MBA program, I was hoping for more of a business slant to it. We'll see how it goes.

Exams: This is the most bizarre part of this class. The majority of the questions come from the slides which are from a different book than the one we are reading. I have a theory as to why this is but I may elaborate on that in a different post. I suspect it has to do with LSUS's free textbook policy. I've done fine on the exams, but I think I'm just going to focus on the slides from now on, even if they don't always make sense, divorced from the textbook they originated from.
