Trailer
I went and saw it on a whim a few nights ago. Directed by the Aussie, David Michod, who directed the extremely critically acclaimed Animal Kingdom a few years ago. Has Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson. Cowritten with Joel Edgerton. In short, Guy Pearce gets something stolen from him in a "post-Collapse" Australia, and he tries to get it back.
Performances were excellent across the board. Cinematography was wonderful, as were the sound effects. It's very Australian, so if you're into aussie flicks, definitely go check it out. Beautiful movie all around. You feel every gunshot and the culmination of the writing, scenery, and sound really leaves you with this looming sense of dread for the entire run time. You never feel comfortable, and it's awesome.
Had a lot of really great components, but I didn't get the catharsis I wanted at the end. Upon further thinking, though, the ending really fits with the tone of the rest of the movie. The pace was a bit slow at times, but I was interested for the whole movie. One of the better movies I've seen recently. I like it more and more as I meditate on it, and I may go see it again.
Yall go check it out

Yeah, saw this flick a few days ago. Enjoyed isn't quite the right word I'd use for it, but I was incredibly impressed with Michod's follow up to animal kingdom. While extremely bleak and nihilistic it was beautifully shot, and the score was extremely effective. They used parts of a couple tracks by Tortoise, one of my all time favorite bands. I sat through the end credits just to soak up the music, last time I did that was for only lovers left alive.
The conversation between guy pearce's character, and the man charged with sending him to Sydney was chilling.
The performances were all very good, even mr. Pattinson's.
I will be looking forward to Michod's next film for sure.

Saw this movie today. Really good. Even sparkly vampire boy did a good job as a gump trapped in post apocalyptic Australia.

I found it to be pretty tedious. Not bad, but not great.
The payoff at the end was a bit weak.
Pattinson did a great job. But I'm not going to admit that to my wife.

Saw it last night. Not sure how I feel about it. I'm not really sure if I got what the director was going for with this movie. I feel like I missed something.
I will say it was a pleasure to look at as I really enjoyed the cinematography and overall mood of the film.
