Yes if my kid accidentally puts a baseball through a window I'd expect him to help pay for it. Even I were pitching and didn't think about the fact that he was facing the neighbors house.

In reality, he'd never really pay for it. But the lesson (in this case) is that an ATV isn't a play toy and there are ramifications for our actions even if the events were beyond our control.

Feel free to think differently. It won't bother me.
