Oh I agree that his conduct was dishonorable and that he should have been punished, but getting busted down two ranks for an affair is fairly uncommon. There may have been other things involved (false official statements, intimidation, etc) that aggrevated the situation. When our senior and flag officers screw-up, they almost always seem to retire in-grade. The three-star who was busted using counterfeit poker chips got a Letter of Reprimand and $4,000 fine, but will likely retire in-grade.

Maybe the Army's done fooling around. My first Commander at AFRICOM, Kip Ward, lost a star for excessive spending and abuse of the JFTR. Probably wouldn't have happened years ago.

I would have to agree. And quite frankly, it is about time. Hopefully this reduction and that of Lt Col Johnson will send a message.
