He was caught off guard by how the jury perceived what had happened in the house. Cody isn't an idiot. He wouldn't have taken Derrick to the final 2 if he thought he had no chance of beating him. He thought he would win. He underestimated Derrick just like every other person in the house did until it was their time to go. It was funny watching him defend the notion that he wasn't Derrick's puppet to the jury and that he played his own game. He couldn't go 10 words without saying Derrick's name.
He still doesn't fully grasp it yet. I listened to a podcast of an interview he did today, and the interviewer asked him something to the effect of was he surprised at the lopsided vote. Cody said he kind of was, but he chalked it up to some resentment in the jury. He kept saying that they played similar games, but he was doing most of the dirty work getting the information from the other guest. I kept wanting the interviewer to say, "you do realize that most of the BB fans are putting Derrick's game up there with Dan and Will, right?" He's going to be shocked at just how much Derrick was actually responsible for the decisions that were made in the house once he has a chance to watch the show.
ETA: Here's the link: LINK. His interview is at around the 18 min mark.

It's been a long time, but I finally realize how damn good Derrick was. I still say weak house, but he'll be remembered as a top three player with Will and Dan.
And to make this appropriate, casting for BB17 has started. Here's the link:

Nice bump
It's funny just yesterday I thought to myself "hmmm the weather is getting warm, I wonder when early stage BB stuff will get going". Thanks for the reminder.
ETA: obviously hindsight is 20/20 but I chuckled that this was the very first response in the thread:

I'm calling it now. The cop from RI will be fired for something he says by season end.

Good call. I would get quite riled arguing this last summer. This show is like our family obsession. We get into it and usually have the same favorites and vilians. I think I wanted Derrick to fail because I hated Frankie that much. It made my stomach turn seeing him at the Grammy's.
I pray they mix it up this year and don't have a unanimous house. Seems like it's been forever since we had a house that was split. Two sides would make the product much better.

Yeah the Wife and I just laughed at this. We need another writers strike so they do a BB in the winter again. A year is to long to wait for such greatness.

He just looked like a little firecracker/big mouth type that didn't have the kind of self control to keep him out of trouble with his job.
I could not have been more wrong.
Just call me Bizzaro Nostradamus.
