It just depends. I don't know how I'd handle it (and I don't know what the laws require in each instance). I'm an attorney but I don't practice criminal law.

Anyway, he's going lose his job likely, maybe his wife. He'll be arrested, get a felony record, pay lots of money to lawyers and the court, and spend a couple thousand hours working in the community.

That may be sufficient for someone on the edge of suicide, but I'm open to suggestions or critiques.

I understand his life and that of his family is in shambles. Will they recover? Who knows?

However, it is negligence and conviction with suspended sentence is not enough. He needs to do time.
