Students will still get plenty of access to classical literature. They also will get those real-life examples. Considering how many adults can't understand those items you mentioned, I fail to see how this is a bad thing.

As someone who grew up living in different states (Military kid) and now raising military kids...6 states total i can tell you we need a standard system..I spent my HS years sleeping in class because i had alaredy learned in middle school what louisiana was teaching in HS. have lived in states were education was below LA standards those kids suffer as adults..you can travel from louisiana to texas for school and end up being a year behind or ahead..why not use a common set of standards?? for most who are against they have never lived outside the state but more and more kids are living their born states to purse higher education and jobs..lets set up for success
