All I know is I've been getting mother fricking solicitors calling from magic jack numbers a few times a day and I'm about to shake a baby

I used to get half a dozen calls a day like that. I can honestly say that I can't remember the last one I got. Probably six months ago. Callcentric has features that let you block virtually all of the spam.

BTW, I ported my original land line number so the reduction in spam wasn't due to having a new number.

I love my **free** Google Voice. You can get 337/985/504 numbers. Dial from your cell phone (with app) and forward to cell phone. You can also send/receives texts from a browser. Voice mail too with transcriptions emailed to you.
