quote:
You keep the ice chest in your hatch? I love the hatch because I don't have to keep an extra ice chest. I throw a bag of ice in it in the morning and take off. The ice melts over the course of the day, way faster than I would like
Threw ice bags in there the first few outings, but like you said- it melts way too fast and that was in the Spring. In the middle of summer, that ice will be half melted before I'm 100 yds from the launch!
While on the water, it worked, but you pretty much have to get more ice immediately after you get back in. Using the cooler allows me to not worry about that, which can be an issue depending on where you are launching.
Now if you have another ice chest full of ice waiting at the car/truck that you can transfer those fish to. . . problem solved!

Yeah, it goes way to quick.
I've seen on the internet that people have insulated them several different ways. Used sprays, closed cell insulation and different types of radiant barriers. It won't be long until I pick something and give it a shot.
For the price of those yaks, I believe they should come insulated from the factory.
