Cracked dash: no care
But seriously, I like that they're putting a diesel in a half ton. Hope the other bigs follow.

I like the idea but I think that the 3.0 is too small. It makes less HP and ties the TQ of the current Ecoboost. The next gen Ecoboost will cost significantly less than the 3.0, make much more power (stock), gas cost less, cheaper oil changes, etc.
Now, the Cummins 5.0 that Nissan and Toyota will be using
Around 500 HP and 500 TQ. I imagine this engine will get the same MPG as the 3.0 too.
Sorry that this contributed nothing to this thread.

Ehhhhhhhhhh
It's a good motor that's been around Europe for a while. Pretty good performance for a small diesel.
I personally would not buy one. The ford ecoboost is a nicer truck that will end up being cheaper to own over the life of the vehicle.
Now when the nissan frontier comes out with the small cummins and chevy cuts the colorado with the small duramax, the game will change. Half ton diesels are going the wrong direction. The engines are too big to accomplish what they're looking to do. The small trucks are going to be some very capable tow vehicles with good MPG numbers. Wait for the nissan......

I have that engine in the Grand Cherokee. So far, so good.
Very surprising as far as pick up is concerned. It definitely lives up to the MPG as advertised, if not better in some cases.
Why did I buy it? The factory warranty was hard to pass up. I did my homework on it, and it seems super reliable overseas.
