Stupid thing to say.

It was funny. Have we finally reached that point where we can no longer laugh at the absurd without being offended by it? Anyone who takes offense at an obvious attempt at humor should be dismissed out of hand.

He may well run head to head with Hillary. You think there was any chance the media wasn't going to be gunning for him?

I'm sure this will help him win in 2016 - single females and moderates love this kinda shite.

Would actually benefit the country. That's why Obama would never do it.

I somehow doubt if the election will turn on a joke told in June 2014. Perhaps I'm overestimating the electorate once again.

If a man is unelectable because he tells an obvious joke like that this country is FUBAR'd.

Which, unfortunately, we probably are.

PS - At least Rand Paul is fairly witty. Obama couldn't improvise a good joke to save his life.

Actually, the comparison of Democratic leaders with the Taliban is not too far off. People of Pelosi's ilk have done considerably more to damage the country than the five Taliban prisoners who were released.

I like it. You won't beat Hillary with a Casper Milquetoast campaign, the gloves have got to come off and the spiked brass knucks have to go on.
Ignore the media, they will whine about mean spirited this and racist that and homophobe and whatever other crap they can sling, and they will do it to get you to back off.
You have to make her debate the issues, and give her no room for air. Negative campaigning WORKS,and the Dems will employ it. The same kind of stuff that Dole,Mc Cain and Romney did is a proven loser.

Pretty sure Romney lost the presidency because of a "fire up the base" comment not unlike this one.

Romney's fire up the base remark was made to a very small group of that base and was recorded and released to the public. Nothing wrong with that, other than stupidity. However, he made the mistake of insulting a large group of the population and highlighted the "us" vs "them" mentality. It wasn't unreasonable for many to believe he saw them as a part of "them" as his wealth was greatly reported with extravagant examples.

Most Americans don't like Congress - either side - and don't consider them a part of "us". Apart from a very few overly sensitive, way too personally identified people will take offense to Rand's joke and those people wouldn't vote for him ever.

People have to stop using such little things as a "gotcha" and put their energy in the real stuff. People on both sides. And people in the middle need to start calling them out for it more.

Add in Obama and Reid, and this would be the biggest boost to the American economy in history.

Ironic, the "gotcha" part. All I'm saying is, considering the current demographic layout, it would be wise for any wannabe Republican candidate to refrain from taliban comparisons, welfare cracks, etc. Some will say that's exactly what they need. They are foolhardy.

Meh. It wasn't clever. It wasn't witty. It certainly wasn't presidential. If Obama had said it about Cruz and Paul this board would be whining about how partisan and petty he was.
