I actually like that song by them. Sure it is a definite change in their style, but it's a good song. The story behind it is pretty funny.

quote:

Filter's frontman, and founding member Richard Patrick has said that the song is about him getting drunk on an airplane, taking off all of his clothes, and fighting with the flight attendants who tried to stop him.[1] This would account for the introductory, and later-repeated, lyrics: "Awake on my airplane, awake on my airplane...my skin is bare, my skin is theirs."

just saw them at the Varsity last April. My .02:

They were a very underrated rock band who I thought would lean more to the industrial side, but became a harder guitar band.

Their first album, "Short Bus", was pretty good...nothing earth-shattering.

I thought that "Title of Record" was well-produced and compiled in an awesomely orderly fashion. I thought "Skinny" was the track that should have garnered them more success; however, "Welcome to the Fold" was a damn strong opening track (following a very long NIN "Pinion-esque" intro).

"Take A Picture" was a good song before radio got a hold of it and made it a soundtrack to commercials and teenager films. I thought it was very un-Filter-like, but it seemed to work being right in the middle of the album. There were 2-3 filler tracks on both of their albums, but both were good.

In 2013...in concert...awful. Had it not been for APC's drummer joining the band to replace, their sound would have been a bore (that guy is AMAZING on the drums!). Richard Patrick has little-man syndrome much like the old Reznor did. He was a dick, said too much between songs - some of which was very degrading to any military members in the house - and he still thinks he's 27 and "Hey Man Nice Shot" is killing the charts. NO, you're not going to see a great Filter show 14 years after they were HUGE, but you should not have to hear Richard Patrick whine like a 16-year-old drunk girl. There were not even 100 fans present. Red Line Chemistry opened for them and were better -- sound wise, song wise, craft wise, show wise. That maybe what had Patrick acting up -- no one to see him and the opening act was better.
