With this in mind, and a pup no matter how calm she rides, skip the tarpon and go for a Ride 135. Slower but not enough to really matter for your usage and you'll be thankful for the extra weight capacity and stability later. The tarpon 140 will float you just fine, but with the load you'll be putting in it, you'll greatly reduce the performance it was designed for.

Ride 135 is THE all around kayak IMO.
I also think the Ride would suit you better. Tarpon owners have one thing in mind and that is speed/distance coverage.
Ride has tons of storage while camping, large tankwell for your dog, elevated seat option and you can stand up and dance on it.
Throw a rudder on it, elevated Air Pro seat and call it a day.
