Tony wanted to kill Ralphie anyway, and probably didn't give a frick either way. The horse was just his justification.

No doubt in my mind Ralph did it.

The only thing I cannot recall being followed up on in the whole series was the fate of the group that attacked Christopher when he was all messed up.

Though I feel that Ralphie did do it, I think there's an interesting case it could have been Paulie.

1. Paulie HATED Ralphie and he knew Tony was attached to that horse. Thus, he sets Ralphie up and he'd figure Tony would overreact and kill him.

2. Ever since the Pine Barrens episode in Season 3, Tony and Paulie weren't exactly on good terms.

3. In a later season, there's a discussion about Ralphie's death and it seemed the crew knew Tony did it as a result of the horse being killed. How did they know? Tony wouldn't say anything and Chrissy wouldn't since he was involved in the cover-up.
