I was talking a cabby in LA who said his business had fallen 50% since Uber became popular. It will change the cab industry because the current cab systems are heavily regulated. Uber is not because its characterized as "ride sharing."
Either Uber will kill the old cab businesses or Uber-type services will become highly regulated like the cabs are.
