You do need to have wifi coverage wherever you plan to use it. You hook your NAS to your network and you can access the files with out having to be wired to the NAS. You can play tons of streaming services and also locale radio stations. You will need a sonos bridge to plug into your router than your good to go with the rest of the stuff. You can not take it from your house and play it else ware tho...unless you bring the bridge with you and plug into a network.

What is a NAS?
So are you telling me that I cant stream music directly from my phone (with wifi or wifi hotspot turned on) to the speaker? Clarification - While not at my normal home WIFI network
Do I need the bridge if I already have a good wifi network in the house?
