Hey guys, my hard drive on my Macbook laptop failed. Laptop was built in 2008. (It's not a Macbook Pro, just Macbook.) I want to replace the HD (easy to open and pop out) but I'm unsure as which kind to get.
Has anyone replaced a mac HD recently and if so, what HD did you get? Are you happy with it?
On a related note, if I wanted to upgrade the RAM (not sure how much I have but I think it's 2 GB) how difficult is it to do? I didn't see an easy way to access the RAM.
Thanks for your help!![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

How much space do you need? Get a SSD but it can get expensive quick if you need a ton of storage. If you do need a ton of storage check out Hybrid drives.

If you don't need tons of storage, put an SSD in there.
Actually, even if you do need tons of storage, put an SSD in there and use an external for storage.

I recently put in a Samsung Spinpoint 1TB 5400rpm drive in mine. It performs noticeably slower compared to before. Buy an SSD and you'll blow your own mind.
And as far as RAM, make sure it's compatible. I just bought 2x2gb of the right model of Konputerbay that didn't explicitly state compatibility with my MacBook and, lo and behold, it didn't register. They're particular about what kind of RAM it takes. Google "RAM for MacBook (model number)" and you'll find what you need with a short list of suggestions. Don't deviate from that list, even if you think you know what you're doing.
