I believed the buyout of LSU Shreveport & Monroe hospitals was going to be a good thing. I thought there would be a more financially responsible, high quality operation put into place. And it seems they have done a little, some of the waste has been eliminated. (i am from a for-profit system). however, waste still abounds, and any quality improvements (if made) are not ever spoken of. For example, I work in a dept that has 19 professionals. 9 are supervisors. So we have 10 "workers" being supervised by 9 "non-workers". It seems they have kept the old management system and hired higher ups from non-profits and do not have a clue how to make money or at least waste less money. I just hate it because I know the taxpayers are obligated to bail out the new system if it doesn't make money. And the fixes are so dang easy.

Maybe you should do something about it instead of posting on a message board. Would have rather lost your job altogether?

I don't think you have any idea what you're talking about. The hospital made a profit in March (50K) and April (300K), which is about 5 months ahead of the predicted "break-even" point.
Major improvements are being made in several units (Labor and delivery, Neuro ICU, MICU). From a business perspective, I'd say they are doing pretty well so far.
From a hospital standpoint, our main goal has always been and always will be, to care for the indigent population in the Shreveport-Bossier and surrounding areas. I would say that we are succeeding in that area as well.
I would suggest that you shut up unless you know what you are talking about. You should also find another job if you are so unhappy; I'm sure Willis Knighton would love to have someone with your attitude.

And a little anonymity might help in your situation, as well. A lot of people browse these forums. It wouldn't be really hard to find a guy in a department of 19 people with a son named Jeff. You would probably be one of your so-called "fixes".

First of all dboy, I am not unhappy, just disappointed. In fact, I am probably very happy at work, more than most. Second of all, u have no ideal if the hospital u r speaking of made a profit. What u r looking at is prob just on paper. Also, budgets have not even been produced yet. Lastly, LSU-S is a great hospital which my family has used recently and were extremely satisfied. I am strictly talking about the fantastic possibilities versus the reality.
