[quote]He helped transform Tulane from a very good program under Joe Brockhoff, to a team that was often nationally ranked and twice went to Omaha.
But in the last 3-5 years, the program is actually worse than it was when he took over. I don't know if he forgot how to recruit, or what. I know it's difficult with the academic standards at Tulane and the limited scholarships, but its shocking how bad they've become.
Feel bad for Jones and Tulane, but without consistency this was overdue. You like at teams like Rice than also have high academic standards, and doesn't seem to be a problem for them, Tulane should expect the same.

Well Rice has 5 times the population in their area and probably 10 x the population that can pay; they can also benefit from things like minority schollies that will help their baseball program, but which won't help ours too often. But there are things we can do - like spend more time in Houston and Florida and other places doing on-site recruiting - that I believe has been lagging for the last several years.
