No, his problem is he's a narcissist that thinks he's above everything that has been offered to him so far. Could he really not find an unpaid internship and work his way up from there into the company? Instead of going that route, he's gone 2 years without a job, and now he's probably fricked for life. You just don't have a 2 year gap in your resume and get away with it. A year gap where you're off backpacking in Europe, ok, but living in your parents home doing nothing but interviewing, there is something clearly wrong with you. I would never hire a person who had a 2 year gap on their resume unless they were hospitalized or were bettering themselves like learning a foreign language. Sitting on your arse and applying everyday on Indeed is not effective means of using your time wisely.

He has other problems, but the system is everyone's problem.
Just because you, me and some others are able to navigate it appropriately and find success doesn't mean the system isn't flawed.

I had a job straight out of college from an internship. Shitty thing was the piece of paper wasn't worth a damn. I was making more before I graduated cutting grass
