We'd never be an NHL city, but something regional like the ECHL that we were in when we had the Brass would be perfect. Play teams from cities like Lafayette, Mobile, Pensacola, etc.

I really disagree with this philosophy.
Minor league baseball teams do poorly in cities, but that doesn't mean an MLB team would do poorly.
For instance, The Nashville Sounds have no fans ever, but I guarandamntee if they brought in an MLB team it would be a hit.
Sometimes you just have to go big or go home.
