As far as the 90s are concerned...
Opeth had My Arms, Your Hearse in '98 and Still Life in '99. Morningrise and Orchid weren't nearly up to par.
Meshuggah really wasn't that great in the 90s, Destroy Erase Improve was okay.
Strapping Young Lad has had one good album and it just so happened to be in the 90s, City. Everything else they have done is very mediocre.
I could list many more as well those were just off the top of my head at the time.

All I can do is laugh at this given the list you posted.
