Auctioning later round picks to get back into the 2nd/3rd

How would you feel about the Saints using our 4th and two fifths to get back into the second/early third round?
Part of me likes having multiple picks to potentially hit on, but immediate impact players aren't common after the 2nd round (perhaps 3rd in this deep draft). I think i would be ok with it as we are in win now mode and we can grab some raw depth through UDFAs.

I would rather dig into 2015 picks to help achieve this. This draft is DEEP and you could still find impact in the 4th and 5th. Not too impressed with the potential 2015 class

that is a lot to give up. we would essentially be left with only 4 overall picks in this draft.

A 5th and next years 4th could probably get us a late 3rd/early 4th

It would likely take our 4th and both 5ths to get back in the 3rd. I'd prefer to use our 2nd next year if the right guy is there. The depth is too deep this year to lose those 3 picks this year vs. 1 next year.
I have no issue trading into the 2nd or 3rd as that's where the meat is in this draft. If the right guy is there then sure go for it.

I think use one of the 5th round picks and a 2015 pick to get back into the 3rd.

Jimmy Graham
Akiem Hicks
Terron Armstead
Marques Colston
John Jenkins
Kenny Stills
Jahri Evans
Carl Nicks
Normally I'd agree with your theory but I'm confident in this teams' ability to find impact players after the second round
Edit: I'm not saying all those guys were pro-bowlers after a year, but they all played and in some cases started and absolutey made an impact

Yeah i'm not thinking teams are going to take chump change where they see high value in the upper/middle rounds. I have a thing about giving up first/second round picks for something other than proven players

I really wouldn't be surprised to see another trade up this draft. With such few holes, it makes sense to be aggressive and going to get the guy you want. I'm down with quality over quantity this draft.

This is a better summation of my thinking. If they see players they grade as late first round talent, then give up the quantity of later picks for the more sure quality.

I want Attaochu OLB and Keith McGill CB in the 2nd.
Just make it happen Loomis!

No thanks...dude is 25 and projects more as a safety than a CB.

I don't think getting back into the 3rd is a priority for us. We've had impact players come out 4th and later for years under Loomi$.
Is everyone really freaking out about losing a 3rd to trade up for Cooks?
He's worth it. The value for the trade is in our favor as well...
Just let it go

Not me I think it was good value. I just like picks I would go next years 3rd and one of our 5ths to get back in this years 3rd though. Deep deep draft this year.

Get a grip. Not once have i questioned the Cooks trade. My question involves the Saints seeing someone they highly regard slipping and making a move on them at the expense of later round selections.

In that aspect, yes. Definitely worth it and with the extra 5th we could probably make it happen without giving up anything of great value (like next year’s 3rd).
I just think that Loomi$ and co have been so good in late rounds that they're going to bank on that...
Sorry, Hollier. I've just been reading too many meltdown posts today I guess
