There's these little ghost icons that represent a person in a car. I've been clicking and reading the names in the baton rouge area for about 30 minutes now. It has to be someone that clicked this thread.

Its easy to mark cops, you just press a button. Same with accidents and everything else. You should for sure use it whenever you drive, especially if you are expecting traffic.

That's what's dumb about having that name. Now we can know where they are if it's turned on.

The icons only update every 2 minutes on the map so you can't track people via their Waze person. I can be found on there from time to time...

AWESOME app...one of the best out there.

using Waze saved me a ton of time by alerting me to a wreck on 10W in between Houston and Beaumont on Easter.

Saved me nearly 4 hours of just sitting in traffic.

Waze also apparently has a big following on the map edit portion of the desktop version. They list major events around the world and edit the maps with street closures and such...

In preparation for major events, or when unforeseen disasters happen, the Waze community updates the map with road closures and other obstructions, so everyone can bypass traffic and save time.

Use it all the time, great app and is crazy accurate with its time estimates.

As stated, if that thing purposely takes you out of the way you better go with it.

Kept me from being stuck on the spillway twice while other drivers had no clue. It does send you down some shitty roads in NOLA because it doesn't track vehicle sized potholes.

does it automatically alert you when a cop or wreck is coming up or do you have to just look on the map?

You can set it for alerts only and it will tell you when you are getting close to a cop or wreck.

If flashes a large indicator on your phone screen and includes how far away you are from the impending event. There are settings you can adjust to initiate an audible signal if needed.

A few months back, as advertisement for Ride Along, you could change the voice on the Waze app to Kevin Hart "LOOKOUT! Police spotted ahead!"

Anybody else have an issue with the alerts not coming through if your phone is locked or the app isn't the active one displayed on the screen?

It's happened many times where I haven't gotten any alerts for a while, look down to see my phone has locked itself, and immediately after I unlock it I hear "police/hazard reported ahead." And it's only for those traffic alerts, the directions work fine with the screen locked

My phone never locks by itself when Waze is open. It fits perfectly on the clock/radio dash board of my truck, and I just glance at it when I see the alert in my peripheral.
