quote:This is key. The StG spokesmen keep making asinine comments like this one from Bodi White:
However, thankfully, the businesses are realizing that the plans of the secessionists are poorly thought out and are choosing to protect themselves by joining Baton Rouge proper.
quote:Really? So it's only a "democratic process" if everyone goes along with what you want? I'm pretty sure the business owners are simply exercising their rights.
"It's unfortunate those two big entities interjected themselves in the democratic process,"
I read another quote this morning from Rainey (can't find the article now) where he said that these businesses were denying people's "right to self-determination" (StG's biggest buzzphrase). Ironically, these businesses are merely exercising their own rights to self-determination, so I guess it's only a bad thing when it doesn't benefit the proposed city. Further, the election can still happen, even though the maps would have to be re-drawn.
Having the figureheads of the movement continually spouting off idiotic, overly-dramatic comments like this is most certainly contributing to the reluctance of businesses to be included within the proposed city. Prospective city leaders would be well-advised to execute a more measured, diplomatic approach, particularly when they consistently accuse BR city leaders of acting like children.

I have an English mother.
She is still pissed that England built and funded the colonies, and then they decided they were just going to pull out of the empire because England wouldn't give them something they wanted.
how dare they..
