Slaves were treated as livestock and breed accordingly for physical characteristics.

I doubt many slave owners knew enough about genetics or had the ability to control the sexual passion of slaves 24/7, to have much if any influence as Jimmy the Greek suggested.

If there is any genetic component to slavery it would be that the best and the brightest of Africa weren't put on the slave ships, and the most sturdy survived the journey. The slaves in the new world probably are a bit less sharp and a bit more durable than the African that remained.

Im not all in this thread but the common thought that blacks were bred into physical superiority during slavery int he US <300 years by slave owners is ridiculous. There is no way that breeding like this was understood at that level by everyone or that it was a common enough practice in that short amount of time to make a difference. "Most" if not all of the physical differences you find in those of african descent in america vs european descent can also be seen in those who have not, and whose ancestors going back 1000 generations have not, left Africa.

Its just plain old genetic variation amongst human populations.
