About.com 2014 LSU Tigers Preview

Here's an odd article on LSU's upcoming 2014 season:
LINK
First they recap 2013:
Not one mention of beating the NC runners up.
Then the preview for 2014:
No mention of Wisconsin.
And then the Auburn game
Not one mention of LSU beating Auburn last year to show that LSU never left the "contenders". But then they come back and predict a 10-2 campaign
I guess I should know better than to read an LSU football article on a site called "about.com".
I just thought it was strange that they seemed to be disrespecting LSU (especially by not doing their homework), but then turn around and predict a decent season.

First they recap 2013:
quote:
There were a couple good wins, sure—the late-season triumph over Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M, the mid-season win over Florida (though that one didn’t really hold up) and even the season opener against TCU.
But the loss to an average Georgia team was heartbreaking, and road defeat at the hands of Ole Miss (a grand indignity for any LSU fan, I can assure you) and, of course, the early November loss against Alabama that eviscerated any hopes the Tigers had of putting together a great season. An Outback Bowl win over Iowa? Sure, it was nice.
Not one mention of beating the NC runners up.
Then the preview for 2014:
quote:
Alabama once again looks like the class of the nation and Auburn figures to be right in the title mix as well, which means that the Tigers enter the season as the No. 3 team in its own division.
The first month of the season is basically a waste, as the Tigers will spend their September rolling past a series of almost entirely meaningless opponents—Sam Houston State, UL-Monroe, Mississippi State and New Mexico State.
No mention of Wisconsin.
And then the Auburn game
quote:
WE will learn a lot about this team on Oct. 4. That date looms large for both programs; Auburn will be looking to prove that they are for real again this season, while LSU will be looking to make a statement about being back among the contenders. I think the season turns on that one.
Not one mention of LSU beating Auburn last year to show that LSU never left the "contenders". But then they come back and predict a 10-2 campaign
quote:
The Verdict ...: LSU is still a great program. A Top 10 program. A contender. But at the moment, at least, they are not the trendy or hot program in the West. Auburn and Alabama are those programs. With that in mind, Miles needs to make a statement, and preferably, he needs to make a statement this year. But I’m not sure he’ll be able to pull it off. Look for a couple of losses and another good-but-not-great bowl bid for this bunch. Prediction: 10-2

Average Georgia team
LOLOLOLOLOLOLLLLLL
UGA was the most talented team in the SEC before they were scalped by injuries during and after the LSU game.

when reading any national opinion, you better be prepared to take only pieces out of it. they are never thorough in fact gathering.
-ga was damn good
-first month is useless??
-bama/aub are trendy because of the media.
-not sure why Miles needs to make a statement this year? the only thing different about this year is maybe bama takes a small step back....??

Pretty spot on accurate imo.
Until Les proves he isnt a 10-2 10-3 and a cap one bowl calibur of coach on a consistent basis, these guys are right.

Well in fairness, LSU hasn't beaten Bama in a while and has finished 9-3 or 10-2 quite often in Les' tenure here. I am happy with another 10-2 season as long as we beat Alabama or Auburn. 9-3 -11-1 should be the bench mark to start any season as long as Les keeps recruiting like he does and Chief is on staff. IMO, 2015 will be the year for higher expectations, but then again, nobody saw 2011 coming either.

No mention of Wisconsin.
Dude just went onto ESPN and looked at the schedule, obviously he didn't bother to count or else he would have seen we only have 11 games next seasons according to ESPN(they left off Wisconsin on the schedule).

Prediction: 10-2
Wonder where our extra game came from?

Well it was about right, other than two very important points. Auburn win last year, adn the Wisky game this year. How does one get to be a sports blogger? I think I could make it I really do.
