Update - Went with the Macbook Air with Apple care for her. 8 GB of RAM and 256 flash memory. Turns out a I get a pretty sizeable discount through work on em, picked up an external hard drive (we want this for a back up, case, and and the super drive with the savings.
Anything else I should get her to go with it?
Should show up this weekend.

I actually don't know specifics here, but make sure the drive is "Time machine compatible." Is that universal, or does it need the Apple Stamp of Appoval (directed to anyone that knows. Maybe colorchangingtiger, since he's usually more on top of Apple/non-apple compatibility than most.)?
Otherwise, you look set.
