Until the soles seperate from the main part of the shoe
I wore Red Wings for years. Their QC has gone down horribly over the past 5 years. I went through 2 pairs of the 1170s in an month and a half. Brought them back and got a refund. I do have a pair of logger's boots from them that have hundreds of miles on them(no joke), but they obviously were built before the QC problems.
I only wear USA made boots because of the quality of leather(thicker also) and the ability to be rebuilt. Red wing has no 100% USA made boots now. I would venture to say that since Berkshire Hathaway started buying boot companies, 97% of work boots are made in, or with sutff from, China. Look on their websites for USA-made ones.
Justin gel soled boots are the only answer here. Most comfortable boot I have ever worn, and have held up very well to my abuse. I have been wearing the 4441 boots for almost 2 years now. You might think about getting a composite toe boot though. They are much lighter. Each one of my boots weighs 5 pounds. My only regret with those is that I wish I would've gotten waterproof ones, but the Obenauf's I use does an okay job of keeping them dry

When I was in college and roughnecking (2000 - 2005)
Red Wings were the only boots you could get that would last on a rig.
Lots of guys I worked with tried to switch to Docs or Georgia and they just would hold up.
Those Docs are comfy though if you're more of an office guy.
