But will I become dependent on this, and have to keep upping the dosage?

I really do not want to be dependent on any kind of medication. I'm hoping this only has to be temporary, and naturally the thought of these side effects with it scares the frick out of me. Having to up the dosage because of a possible dependency on the medication would only worsen the potential side effects.

those that I know who take anti depressants do not have to keep upping the dosage...in fact, a number of them have just used them to get through a rough patch and then gradually weaned themself off several months later...

I personally think that the benefits outweigh the negatives even if you need to stay on them long term....

You will not become dependent. I took it for about 10 months and when my doctor told me that he thought it had worked its magic I stopped and have never taken it again. Nor did I want to take it again. That's about 15 years ago.

Good luck to you and I hope it works. If it doesn't, there are other medications out there. You'll feel better. I hope it's sooner rather than later.

You need to talk to your doctor about this. You won't become dependant. The time limit totally depends on your depression. I was originally given a 4-5 month range, but it's been upped to over a year due to recent losses and hospitalization.

Just worry about getting better!
