The problem is that baseball does not equate with playing top talent as much as it equates with repetition.

Think of Golf v. Tennis.

You can practice tennis every day for a year and you won't improve until you play tennis players who are better than you.

However, you can practice golf every day for a year and become very good without having anyone else on the course.

Now a juxtaposition...

Imagine pitchers John and Sam. Both are 6 years old.

John plays t ball. Then goes with 'travel teams' if he has the money. He wants to pitch but he has to share time with other players. He continues his quest at improvement for 5 years.

Sam starts pitching with his dad in the back yard every day for 1 hour ... for 5 years.

At age 11, which kid will be the better pitcher?

Also, it's about time we repealed that gotdamn DH rule. That, along with the 19th Amendment, have set this country back generations IMO.
