Officer fatalities by year nationwide:
2013: 100
2012: 122
2011: 171
2010: 161
2009: 125
Total over 5 years: 679 officers
That's not really that bad considering what they'd have you believe.
I find it extremely interesting that I'm not able to find any reliable information on how many people are killed by police each year. Apparently that is not a tracked statistic.
