He's a damn accountant. If an owner entrusted him to be a talent scout, that's where the problem lies. The last I looked, Payton's guidance has yielded some pretty ineffective picks at the upper end of the drafts. Like most on here have said, there are very few real "locks" when it comes to the draft.

That's actually not that true. We've actually done better than most at the top of the draft despite having fewer picks in the first 3 rounds than anyone not named the Redskins.

I think when I broke it down Brown was by far the worst 1st-3rd rounder we took under Payton, and even he still contributed something.
