My wife and I are leaving Nashville for New Orleans, but it is a bittersweet move for sure. We live in Green Hills and we love it. Unlike BR and NOLA, there really are safe neighborhoods. Plus, there is no state income tax, and schools are good.

12 South and East Nashville are fun places for folks your age (but schools and safety are not as good in these areas, but coming from LA they will still be better than what you are used to). That will be quite the commute for you to Cool Springs, but at least you will be going against traffic.

Nashville is a great city, and it is only getting better. We are moving back to raise our kids with family. NOLA is home, so it wins. But there is a lot to love about Nashville.

i left for a week with the back window open so the cat could come in and out. i rarely lock my doors and on more than one occassion, i've left my garage open at night with the SHOP LIGHTS ON and $15k worth of bicycles on display.

not saying this is a good idea at all..but just to reiterate the safe neighborhood comments (i live in bellevue and aside from that 911 guy who freaked out and cut up my son's best friend and his family, its super quiet)

we go for weeks without any murders. oftentimes a lost goat or something leads off the news at night.
