Did you really just compare slavery and rape to getting search warrant based on a trash pull?

I compared the systematic gross violation of the rights of citizens guaranteed in the constitution to another period in history where there were also gross violations. There is an overall bigger picture here. And no, i do not think the war on drugs was the same as slavery, however a bunch of addicts in prison are getting raped, so there is that.

he police are just enforcing the law on the books. That is their job.

It is not the DEAs job to SWAT mob a private citizen for 9 grams of pot. They should be going after major violations of federal government law like multimillion dollar meth labs and drug imports. Small violations of state criminal laws relating to the most harmless drug ever are a pretty big stretch of DEA enforcement power and one which is a battle in the courts and in the legislature today.

Further, the DEA has the right and the ability to choose who to pursue and who to investigate so it is completely and totally under their control to not partake in actions such as this.

It's an easy way to pad their stats to get a boost in funding.

Ok, but a large portion of the DEA consists of local and state officers that work within the DEA.

I would be willing to bet this was a local or state investigation conducted from the DEA office.
