Your views are 30 years behind the times. I've never worked for a company like this.

Most of us have good employer relations.

Are you suggesting that people have no choice in whom they work for?

My boss encourages me to take time during the week to volunteer at my kid's schools and to get things taken care of, like auto repair, for example. There are times when I need to work until 2 or 3 in the morning, or travel for work on a weekend, so we're encouraged to balance out personal lives and work the best we can so we can be productive when we're most needed.

The law as written in France does a disservice to the employee. While the employee might be able to legally be dismissive of the company's needs, it also gives the employees who recognize that the world works in many shades of gray not black and white, an advantage come promotion time. That's reality.
