Why do you say that? I would assume the complete opposite since hospitals are supposed to be sterile.

I work in healthcare. Hospitals are cesspools.

Operating rooms are as sterile as you're going to get. Everywhere else, germs are rampant, from sick patients, outside visitors, etc.

It is pretty well known that the one of the best places to get an infection is at a hospital.

They are but there is only so much you can do to prevent infection. I had a Total Knee Replacement patient that had an infection and had to have the new knee removed so the infection could be cleaned out before getting another replacement put in. It sucks but happens more than you would like.
