As an owner, if I'm going to potentially invest millions upon millions of dollars in you (and forego another potential investment in the draft), I want to scrutinize everything about you.

Any player with this mentality will always draw the short end of the stick. The owner/gm/coaches can simply find another player who is willing to go through the motions and understand why he is being asked to do so. Meanwhile, Mr. Pointmaker just lost out on millions of dollars.
