Clearly Apple decided to make a product for the everyman, as has been their objective following the Apple 2, and they've done it well. Everything works well for me and nothing is too complicated.
Agree with this, though I do (somewhat hypocritically, I'll confess) mock those who HAVE to have any new product Apple happens to roll off the production line. My brother has an iPhone 5S, an iPad, an iPad air, a Mac, an iPod and Apple TV. I love my brother, but he's the epitome of the Apple sheep.
I like my iPhone because it's simple, I'm not the most tech-savvy person around, and because I don't live on my phone. I got a Galaxy S4 through work last year, absolutely hated it, and went back to my old iPhone 4S after just 3 months and have had it since. I'm not a sheep, just a glutton for simplicity, and that much is proven by the fact I'm still rocking an 4S while practically everyone I know has a 5.
I don't have an iPad (don't need one) and don't have a Mac (don't want one), but my work computer is a Mac and I don't find them to be much better than your run of the mill PC.

Why is complexity considered a virtue with regards to consumer technology if the end result is the same?
I've never understood that concept.
I think at it's core, the Apple hate from Android users amounts to insecurity. They want to be the cool guy that can show people how to do things and feel smart. That is a good feeling, I admit. I used to be the tech savvy guy that would help people figure stuff out until the last couple of years when now even grandma has a smart phone. It stung a little to not be the tech guy. Normal people did what I wanted them to always do and they got with the program. Apple had a ton to do with this good thing.
It's like a Android nerds want to artificially promote something that is not user friendly so they can be the guy that knows something others do not and boost their ego. It's bizarre.
I am not unfamiliar with Android. As a matter of fact, I use an Android tablet 8 hours a day as it was forced on me by my job.
I find it to be, for lack of a better term, a piece of shite. It is a Samsung tablet.
