While I love a good bowl of turtle soup, I couldn't sacrifice a turtle that has lived for 50 years or more. Got to respect the wildlife on occasion.

I don't understand this at all. What does age have to do with it, and if age does have anything to do with it, isn't taking older ones better?

The majority of turtle soup in restaurants isn't made with turtle meat.

I'm 95% positive that Palace Café in NOLA doesn't use real turtle meat

There is a difference in being a hunter and an outdoorsman. It's a respect factor. I let the big ones walk/swim, and only take the small better eating ones. I don't kill to show off and post pictures.

I don't kill turtles because I was taught how to catch/kill critters that are way better to eat than turtles.

Really though, I have never eaten turtle so it is kind of like someone throwing white perch back because they don't know how to clean them and don't know if they are good to eat.
