If you read the additional posts that are linked, the assertion is made that most, or a substantial portion, of the pressure against Eich actually came from heterosexual young activists who fancy themselves as progressive and enlightened.

In today's slate under the headline "If You're Against Gay Marriage, You're a Bad CEO":
Imagine if it read like this:
Liberals are TOTALLY cool with reactionary hardline Cultural Orthodoxy that swerves into occasional Cultural Fascism. They'll defend it to the end with nary a worry about how this plays out long term for societies that devolve to a Correct Thought and Correct Speech paradigm.
