If so, he's in my front yard chillin. Went to the store and he was layed out in my backyard. Has some bandage on his front leg so he's obviously someone's pet. Has a silver collar with a rabies tag. Have pics on phone but will have to wait to post them, dont know how on mobile.

Why don't you bring him inside, read his tag, call the owner and hang out with the dog until they get there?

The tag is half way faded. Doesn't even have a phone number. Just a rabies tag. Collar is silver with some diamond type looking material on it

Call the local vets office and read them the number on the rabies tag. They can figure out who it belongs to that way...

Good call. He also could see if the dog has a microchip.

Will do. I went up to get a picture of him earlier and he jumped on as me as if he wanted to play... but kept crying so I gave him some bologna and water just to hold em till someone gets him.

Isn't it a 'beagle' pup?
Maybe people are confused?

Where at? Id imagine he couldnt go far. He could barely get up when I pulled up in the drive way. But he's a nice dog. Didnt growl at. Walked up to me and let me pet him and read his tag

Beagles are great dogs, but notorious about getting loose and not minding the owner and letting that nose lead them away.
Someone will be thankful for you to just hold onto to the pup tonight.
Also, a suggestion if you're killing time, put a sign up that you found a puppy, (don't tell the breed, make the caller identify ), and drive around to see if someone has already posted a lost dog sign.
