Yeah, you definitely don't.

David Simon has said multiple times that the main character of The Wire is Baltimore. When you view it through that lens it makes so much more sense. The act of bringing in the press is perfectly understandable, as each season focuses on developing a different aspect of that main character's “personality," for lack of a better word.
