I watched 3 episodes of The Wire almost every until I finished the series after watching TD. I think the problem I am having is that I watched TD first. TD was brilliant through the first 5 episodes. The first season was like watching an 8 hr movie. The production and plot development of episode are bigscreen worthy.

The Wire was not initally recognized and later has developed acclaim. I thought the 1st two seasons were better than the 2nd and 4th. The 5th season is a betrayal of the rules set in place in the 1st four seasons. The ending really left a bad taste in my mouth. The fact that they focused on characters that were never in the plot and brought the press into it, along with the cops just throwing the rules out the window was disappointing. Season 4 all but left McNulty out. How can you put the main character on the shelf for the better part of a season? The Wire is a soap opera compared to the TD.

I'm running out of this thread. I could handle your off base analysis. But now that SFP showed up with his, it's just too much.

I don't think that you understand the statement that The Wire was trying to make. It was a sociological study in fiction form.

I'm pretty sure that this is just flat out false.

You don't really understand The Wire, do you?

Yeah, you definitely don't.

David Simon has said multiple times that the main character of The Wire is Baltimore. When you view it through that lens it makes so much more sense. The act of bringing in the press is perfectly understandable, as each season focuses on developing a different aspect of that main character's “personality," for lack of a better word.

As for soap opera,

You kinda suck.
