I agree.
They are a radical Islamic govt. It seems that someone like this would be an obvious choice since they always pounce on any opportunity to needle the West. Why should we have a say in or care who their envoys are?

Exactly. They probably would have appointed this same guy if McCain or Romeny was president.
Plus, technically speaking, he is Ambassador to the UN not the USA. Different thing with different types of diplomatic immunity and priviledges. Heck he can't be names ambassador to USA because there are no official relations between our countries.
