350k home in Louisiana: note- 1500.00 escrow- 250.00 (home owners and property tax) total- 1750.00 250k home in texas: note- 1200.00 escrow- 680.00 (home owners and property tax) total- 1880.00 enjoy your stay!!
Your numbers aren't even close to being accurate FYI. I know because I have a home in Houston and I know what pay in my escrow each month.
But what you fail to mention along with the higher property taxes is that in BR you can send your child to some run down piece of shite school in the ghetto where they can barely teach students to add or you can be in Katy ISD like me and send your child to school at one of the best school districts in the state of Texas.
Enjoy that great Louisiana public education!!11!!

Who cares about public schools in Louisiana. My parents found a way to send me to a Cathoic private schools on a modest income. It can be done.

SF Homes don't seem very cheap in decent areas within 15 miles of downtown Houston. Or even 20, for that matter.
Beware: A lot of people lie about how short their commute times are.
