Look at this Feb 2014 report from the state auditor's office.
See Statement A, after page 11. Reported revenues of $18.11 million include $7.55 million (40%) "Direct Institutional Support" (read taxpayer subsidy). They, LA Tech, and ULM are in FBS not by merit and market demand, but by diverting more university funds to athletics than the other state schools do.
